As Haywood County residents dig out of the devastating flood damages caused by Tropical Storm Fred, there has been an outpouring of love and compassion shown by neighbors, churches, regional disaster organizations and friends. A FB flood relief drive with the help of fellow Jackson County residents delivered much-needed supplies to portions of Haywood that were hit hard by flooding from Tropical Storm Fred in which six people died. The community effort included scores of volunteers making their way to Haywood, specifically Cruso, which organizers referred to as “ground zero,” and along with the town of Sylva crew and volunteers they are gearing up to continue clean-up efforts in Haywood this week. Anyone interested in helping can message the Founder of the ‘Sylva Shopping Support’ Facebook page.
