Restrictions Tighten on Plastics Recycling In Jackson County

Jackson County Solid Waste is now only able to take plastic containers which come from the grocery store. This follows from information received from Curbside Recycling in Asheville with whom Jackson County contracts recycling
services. Plastic container lids are also fine to recycle, but water and soda bottle caps must be tightened onto the bottle. Squirter nozzle pumps, however, are not accepted and must be removed from any glass cleaner plastic bottles, pump hair spray bottles and similar items.

Jackson County also does not accept any #3 or #6 plastics due to no recyclers for those products in this area. For any questions, please call Kim Shuler at (828) 586-7509 or at kimshuler@jacksonnc.org. The Solid Waste Department webpage can be accessed at www.jacksonnc.org.
