Water quality and environmental infrastructure are issues that will now be able to be addressed locally thanks to nearly a quarter million dollars in grants from The Pigeon River Fund of The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina. CFWNC has awarded eleven grants totaling $246,430 to nonprofits in Buncombe, Haywood and Madison counties. The most recent Pigeon River Fund grant recipients include, Asheville GreenWorks, Haywood Waterways Association, Maggie Valley Sanitary District, and Mountain Housing Opportunities, as well as Town of Waynesville to assist with an on-going park and greenway expansion project. The next application deadline for qualifying nonprofits in Buncombe, Haywood and Madison counties is September 15. Applications and instructions are available at cfwnc.org.
