Southwestern Commission staff joined officials from Graham County, NCDOT, and the Federal Highway Administration on Monday to celebrate the groundbreaking for Corridor K, a transportation project that has been in the works for more than 50 years. The goal of the project, the culmination of decades of study, including gathering feedback from area residents about the actual transportation needs of the community, will improve the existing US 129, NC 143, and NC 28 roads, rather than building a new road, officials said.
