(Buncombe County, NC) – A tree in the roadway likely contributed to a wreck that claimed the life of a 71 year old Indiana man Tuesday (August 2) on Blue Ridge Parkway, a police report indicates. William Dashiell, who was riding with a group of bikers, reportedly lost control of his motorcycle when he tried to avoid hitting the fallen tree, causing him to crash into a heavily wooded area near milepost 358, just south of Mount Mitchell. He died at the scene, according to NPS reports.
