A man was airlifted from the site of a popular Western North Carolina waterfall on Saturday with possibly life-threatening injuries. Officials tell reporters…a man, around 30 years old, fell approximately 20 feet into shallow water. They add…the fall did not occur from the top of the falls, but from a ledge near the side of the falls. Bystanders helped get the man to the observation area…where responders carried him up to the ambulance. He was airlifted to Mission Hospital in Asheville with serious, possibly life-threatening injuries.
