A Waynesville police officer was stabbed in broad daylight in the middle of Russ Avenue Monday afternoon. According to a news release, officers spotted a woman standing in the middle of Waynesville’s busiest thoroughfare and asked her to move, but she allegedly pulled out a knife and cut a deputie’s hand. She eventually was detained and is currently in jail on a number of charges.
