The site of the old train depot between Mill Street and Railroad Avenue will soon be home to Sylva’s long awaited restrooms. Town leaders approved funding for the project last year. Other infrastructure costs have not been determined. Construction could begin before year’s end, officials said in a statement Tuesday, adding, they’ll advertise for 30 days to solicit bids, which would be due in 30 days, and then they’ll select a contractor to build the bathrooms, a project decades in the making. The building was demolished in 1978.
