A new investigation into a social media post about a trans man changing in the women’s bathroom at the Waynesville Rec Center, has finally led Waynesville Police to the truth, and the exonneration of the man who was lambasted for making the post. Police said the incident is captured on video surveillance footage after all, but it turns out they reviewed the wrong video surveillance footage when they initially looked into the rumor. The man who posted concerns about his teen daughter who was the one that mentioned it to her dad, said he was just advising people to be aware and his intention was not about hate. He said they learned that what his daughter saw was a biological female who is undergoing a gender transition, as they identify as a male. Police said it was just a big miscommunication, that unfortunately, thanks to social media, easily got out of hand.
