Aug. 14—Maggie Valley is one step closer to securing a town-owned storage building to house maintenance and public works equipment and winter lights displays. The town board approved a $200,000 land purchase during their August meeting for a quarter-acre tract to construct the storage building just off Soco Rd.. The town board has been eyeing tracts for a storage unit for a couple of year now to serve the dual purpose of storing maintenance equipment and Maggie’s enormous winter light displays — some of which have 30-foot-long pieces. The approval of the purchase of the land did not affect the budget, officials said.
