A Waynesville man is now facing two felony charges in connection to an alleged assault involving a pistol last week, according to documents filed in circuit court. Officers with the Waynesville Police Department say, Sheldon R. Cole was armed when officers found him with a bloodied face Aug 9 at the Cenex gas station in the 1300 block of Historic Route 66 in Waynesville, following what was described as a group fight involving several people during which firearms were displayed, according to the case’s probable cause statement. He’s being held on first-degree assault and armed criminal action. His Aug. 10 warrant came with no bond issued. The investigation is ongoing.
