Road rehabilitation project aims to improve access to popular park destinations in North Carolina

GATLINBURG, Tenn.- A road rehabilitation project is aimed at improving access to popular park destinations in North Carolina. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is using nearly $19 million in federal funding from the Great American Outdoors Act to reconstruct Lakeview Drive and make critical repairs to Heintooga Ridge Road this summer. To prepare for work on Lakeview, expected to begin later this summer, temporary single-lane closures will be in place July 13 and 14, and drivers are warned to expect delays.
