Charges have been upgraded in Macon County double homicide

MACON COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — Charges have been upgraded in the case of a Macon County woman accused of killing her mother and her mother’s boyfriend. A grand jury has increased the charges against Divinity Guest to first-degree murder in the double homicide. Investigators said Guest shot and killed Levia Guest and Brandon Ownby at a home on Mack Branch Road in early October. She was taken into custody on a number of charges, including two counts of second-degree murder, and breaking and entering. Guest is undergoing a mental evaluation to determine if she is competent to proceed with the legal case against her.
