Breakdown of GREAT grants awarded to District 50 shows what each county will receive

The breakdown of federally funded GREAT grants awarded to District 50 is being touted by its staunchest advocate, as “hard work pays off.” Senator Corbin says “he’s happy to see them fulfilled.”

The breakdown shows, Clay County will recieve more than $3,800-thousand dollars [$3,842,233.68] in funding to help bring broadband services to over1,450 households and businesses.

Graham County was awarded nearly $620,000 [$619,916.65] in funding intended to expand broadband access to approximately 217 households and businesses.

Almost a million dollars in grant funding [$992,403.90 ] went to Macon County, which will benefit 263 households and businesses within Macon County.

Citizens Telephone in Transylvania County has been selected to receive $4,000,000 in funding, with services to nearly 700 [698] households and businesses.

Balsam West has been selected to receive over $2,000,000 [$2,431,130.90] in federal funding to help bring inernet access to more than 600 households and businesses in Jackson County.

AND…

Cherokee will get close to 3 milllion [$2,855,970.32] federal bucks, with Swain receiving over a million dollars [1,681,930.95] in grant monies to help expand broadband access to hundreds of households and businesses.
