Summer is just heating up, but Jackson County Public Schools officials are already looking ahead to the fall semester. Just as classes are coming to an end, JCPS is working with the Jackson County Recreation Department to host the second annual Back to School Bash. The family-focused event will be held on Aug. 5, at the Cullowhee Recreation Center. The inaugural event last year was a huge success, serving more than 1,000 students, which Superintendent Dana Ayers said was thanks to the help and support of local community and business partners. Sponsors provided more than 700 backpacks, notebooks, paper, pencils, crayons and other school supplies.
All of the schools will be present with a tent or table set up to hand out items that represent their school.
