NC couple sentenced for their role in deadly Jan. 6 Capital insurrection

A couple with ties to Catawba County, just east of Asheville are going to jail for their role in the deadly Jan. 6 Capital insurrection. The Capitol violence has been linked to at least five deaths, injuries to some 140 police officers, and more than $2.8 million in damage to the building. Now, the owners of “Free Folk Pastures” have become North Carolina’s first husband and wife sentenced to prison for their roles in the violent 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol. They will begin their 41 and 8 month prison terms at a later date. Both pleaded guilty to a number of felony charges, including assault on a police officer.
