Asheville city leaders say they couldn’t begin relocating any unhoused individuals living in an area under the Craven Street bridge or clearing any of the debris until the NCDOT, which owns the property, notified them. Clothes, shoes, sleeping bags and bottles are among the debris flowing down to the French Broad River from under the bridge. Officials say the DOT has now provided a potential scheduled date to clean up the location.
