Investigators have determined what sparked a fast burning brushfire in the area of Macktown Gap Road last week [April 19]. Sylva Fire Chief Mike Beck said, the homeowner at the address had been burning dry bushes, shrubs, and grass when flames got out of control and several acres of land were burned. Multiple agencies responded to the fire which Beck said was brought under control within a few hours. There were no injuries, and no structures were damaged or threatened, he said.
