Asheville man struck by two cars while skateboarding

ASHEVILLE – A pedestrian who was killed in a collision last week [May 22] on Merrimon Avenue near I-240 West has been identified. According to a recent update [May 26] from the Asheville Police Department, patrol officers responded to the intersection of U.S. 25/Merrimon Avenue and Marcellus Street on May 22, and reported, Benjamin David Brown was on a skateboard when he was struck by a garbage truck. Brown was thrown a short distance and came to rest in the roadway on the exit ramp where he was then struck a second time by an oncoming vehicle, according to the news statement. The 46 year old Asheville resident died on scene. APD is still investigating the collision and is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
