Park it Forward’ is generating big bucks for Great Smoky Mountains. After one month the “Park it Forward” program, which requires park visitors to purchase a parking tag as made more than $1 million. The money will go toward park maintenance and visitor experience, according to a press release.

In 2021, the Great Smoky Mountains was the most visited national park with 14.1 million visitors, but officials said GSMNP’s $20.6 million budget was lacking, adding, 100% of the money generated through the Park it Forward program will stay within the park.
