We’re learning more about a Jackson County traffic stop that led to the arrest of an out of state couple on child abuse and drug trafficking charges. According to an update, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of a Dillsboro restaurant Saturday [Feb. 25], and a Sylva K9 officer sniffed out a substantial amount of drugs, which police say the two were allegedly dealing from their car, with a baby in tow. Bail was set at $250,000 for, David Russell Johnson, 41, of Georgia, and $200,000 for Mariah Jordan Bell, 31, of Ohio. Both remained in the Jackson County Detention Center as of Wednesday morning.
