Pactiv Evergreen employees begin recieving pink slips

CANTON, N.C. (WLOS) – Pactiv Evergreen employees began recieving pink slips last week. Letters to employees began going out Thursday officially notifying them of when their last day of employment will be. It was noted that the first wave of layoffs will begin on June 9, but how many release dates there would be was not disclosed. Plans to close the Canton mill and reduce the workforce in Waynesville were confirmed March 6.

MEANWHILE…

The community has stepped up to help those who face losing their jobs. Several job fairs have been held, and area leaders are organizing job resources for soon-to-be displaced Pactiv Evergreen workers. Haywood County Schools even held resume writing workshops.
