WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) – Pactiv Evergreen says it anticipates reducing Waynesville staff by the end of June as it winds down the Canton mill. Pactiv Evergreen announced last month that the Canton plant was closing and layoffs at the Waynesville facility are imminent, as they work to scale back operations. However, the companty says, for now, the Waynesville plant will remain open.

WARN notices sent to Waynesville workers indicate job eliminations begin June 9, however, many workers will still be needed at each facility past June 9, the release noted. The WARN letters also say job eliminations are to be completed by March 9, 2025, which corresponds to the company wastewater contract with Canton.
