Hotline has been set up to help the Canton community

HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) – A Haywood County help line has been set up to help the Canton community following the closing of the paper mill, that left hundreds without jobs. Mill employees, families, business owners and community members impacted by Pactiv Evergreen’s upcoming mill closure in Canton are encouraged to call the helpline weekdays to get up-to-date information about job fairs, employment opportunities, career training, mental health and community resources, which will also be posted to the Facebook page “Canton Mill Community Resources.” On March 6, it was confirmed that Pactiv Evergreen planned to close its Canton mill and reduce the workforce at its plant in Waynesville, moves that will impact about 1,200 workers.
