Downtown Bryson City is getting new life. A Main St. building that stood empty for about a decade has seen significant improvement over the past year, with the goal of opening restaurants in the next six months or so, developers said. And across the street, at Rosewood Inn on the River, demolition is set to begin soon at this historic, one-story motel that has operated since the mid-century to make way for a slate of riverfront retail spaces on the first story and residential units upstairs. Construction could begin sometime in 2024, developers noted. The plan is for about six storefront spaces, with the hope of adding more shopping for tourists and locals.
