Ensuring the health of ecosystems in the national forests in Western North Carolina is the goal of the USDA Forest Service’s recently released final revised Nantahala Pisgah Forest management plan. Jackson County lies in the Nantahala National Forest. The revised plan was created with tribal consultation and focuses on sustaining these forests for current and future generations, and continuing to provide benefits such as clean water, and outdoor recreation, which is important to local economies, tourism and community well-being in Western North Carolina.
