HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) – Some Haywood County residents are hoping improvements planned for a truck stop, many call dangerous, will be approved sooner than later. Several Haywood County residents have complained the layout of a Pilot Travel Center off Interstate 40 is causing traffic jams and wrecks, and an NCDOT spokesman said they are working on safety measures that will relieve congestion and improve traffic flow, but when any changes can begin is dependent on Pilot and its team. He said Pilot’s plan for a driveway permit will be reviewed by transportation officials.
