Friends and family of Buncombe County woman still in shock after she was murdered New Year’s Eve

Friends and family of a Buncombe County woman are still in shock after she was murdered during an Uber shift on New Year’s Eve, and many are now calling for better protections for ride share drivers. Julia Holland’s body and her vehicle were found at a Canton residence where a 26 year man and his 57 year old mother were taken into custody on numerous charges related to the killing of Holland. A group of Holland’s friends are starting a letter writing campaign in hopes of changing policies and procedures to prevent another fatality. They’ve also set up a Facebook group, called JUSTICE for Julia to keep up with the trial, offer support for Holland’s family, and “unite in her name.” The investigation into the suspicious death is continuing.
