(Asheville, NC) — The search continues for a new permanent superintendet for Asheville Schools. The district’s board of education approved a six-month contract extension on Friday for Dr. Jim Causby who is Asheville’s interim superintendent, and he will continue to serve through the end of the school year. Officials said they will cast their net deeper and wider as they look for a permanent superintendent starting later this month when new school board members are sworn-in. The previous superintendent, Gene Freeman, retired this fall.
