Plans for a major housing development in the Qualla Community are moving forward. The Jackson County Planning Board has to review designs for the proposed subdivision before the process can continue toward approval. The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is the applicant proposing the subdivision on a 188-acre plot on Camp Creek Road in the Qualla Township. Proposed construction would take place in four phases. The development agreement should come before the planning board for review and recommendation in January.
