Multiple schools across state placed on lockdown, including Transylvania, Henderson and Cherokee counties

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) – Law enforcement is continuing to investigate after separate phone calls from at least three western North Carolina counties last week [Dec. 1], reporting active threats on school campuses. Multiple schools across the state were placed on lockdown, including in Transylvania, Henderson and Cherokee counties. All lockdowns were lifted after authorites found no danger and cleared schools to return to normal operations for the day. A spokesperson said the report received by the Henderson County call center and Murphy High School in Cherokee County was determined to be false.
