CHEROKEE, N.C. – The Kituwah [ka do a], LLC building burned in a fire Thursday morning [Dec. 15]. Cherokee Fire Dept. officials noted they were dispatched to the scene at 1:55 a.m. and, with assistance from crews from Bryson City, Qualla, Maggie Valley, and Savanna, quickly extinguished the fire. A nearby building received slight fire and water damage. There were no reports of any injuries. Officials said there will be some minor disruption while the building is demolished and rebuilt, and employees are temporarily relocated to both offices at the model center and the Chestnut Tree back offices. What caused the blaze has yet to be determined.
