Violent assault and robbery in downtown Asheville have police on high alert ahead of holidays

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) – A “violent assault and robbery” in downtown Asheville recently have police on high alert ahead of the holidays. A press release from the Asheville Police Department (APD) says that the victim, who is visiting, told deputies he had been walking back to his hotel downtown when he was separated from his group in the area of Pack Square Nov. 10, and was attacked, with the assailant getting away with his wallet. APD says a credit card stolen from the victim was used at a local store after the assault, and thanks to surveillance cameras police were able to track down the suspects, according to a press release.
