FRANKLIN, N.C. (WLOS) – An investigation is underway at one Western North Carolina school after a disturbing online post was reported to authorities by a concerned student. Mountain View Intermediate (MVI), in Franklin, shared on Facebook Monday [Nov. 21] that school administration along with the Macon County Sheriff’s Office had been made aware of “a possible threat made on social media, posted by an MVI student.” Macon County Schools shared in a press release that their preliminary investigation found “the meme did not reach the scale of being an actual criminal act under NC law.” Authorities have determined that there is no immediate danger to students or staff, the school writes.
