EBCI 4th grader heads to Washington to light Capital Christmas tree

ASHEVILLE, NC (WSPA) – When the 78-foot-tall red spruce is lit on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol on November 29, a 4th grader from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians will do the honors, according to a press release from the US Department of Agriculture. The nine year old is a citizen of EBCI, located in Cherokee, NC, and attends New Kituwah Academy language immersion school, according to the press release.
