WEAVERVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) – A Buncombe County homeowner left shaken after a break-in last week is speaking out. ‘We thought we lived in a safe area,’ that’s what Erik Torrez said after the Weaverville resident came home to find his front door unlocked and open Nov. 6. Torrez said there had been a lot of bear activity in the area, which is what he assumed had happened, until he walked inside and noticed some items were missing. The suspect was caught on surveillance cameras entering the home, and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, said in a release Monday, that thanks to social media, the burglar, identified as Ralph Lewis King Jr. had been taken into custody.
