JCSO says social media threat targeting Smoky Mountain High School not valid

SYLVA, NC – The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said a social media threat targeting Smoky Mountain High School turned out not to be valid. Law enforcement alerted the school Wednesday morning [October 26], after they received a report that a currently enrolled student made the post, and worked with administrators to ensure that there was no risk to student safety. Officials at quickly verified that no weapon was brought to Smoky Mountain High School. There was no interruption to classes during the scare.
