investigation underway in Cherokee after former educator fatally shot

CHEROKEE, N.C. (WLOS) – An investigation is underway in Cherokee after a former educator was reportedly shot to death on Thursday. According to Swain County Schools, Lambert Wilson was killed at the El Camino Motel he owned in Cherokee. Wilson was a teacher and principal for 31 years in Swain County Schools. He retired in 2006, Cherokee Central Schools said in a statement.
