Investigation culmitates in 14 arrests, thousands of stolen goods in Buncombe County

BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) – After a weeks long investigation, the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office has charged 14 suspects and recovered more than 4,000 stolen items from an area pawn shop. The sheriff’s office announced Tuesday [Oct. 18] that each person has been charged with felony organized retail theft, stemming from the thefts at area Home Depot, Lowe’s, Target and Sportsman’s Warehouse stores across Buncombe County. An estimated cost of the recovered items, which has not yet been finalized, is expected to exceed the original estimate of $125,000 to $150,000, the sheriff’s office said in a press release.
