HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) – Haywood County residents prepared for the worst and prayed for the best as hurricane Ian roared through the state. LAKE JUNALUSKA, N.C. (WLOS) – Many are finding refuge from Ian in the mountains of North Carolina and that’s not unusual for one community in Haywood County. Lake Junaluska leaders say with a mission statement of hospitality, especially to those in need, it’s entirely appropriate to put out the welcome mat to Ian evacuees.
Lake Junaluska Executive Director Ken Howle says it’s a long-standing tradition to offer discounted rates to those facing challenges like this storm. He says room is available at the hotel, apartments, and other properties.
