Asheville — A Cherokee, North Carolina man will be spending more than a decade behind bars after he was found guilty of second-degree murder. The 21-year-old enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians was recently sentenced [October 3], to 14 years in prison, stemming from the December 13, 2019 incident in which he’s charged with shooting a man in the chest, killing him, according to court documents. Federal authorities are holding the suspect at a federal facility, until he is placed into the custody of the federal Bureau of Prisons.
