Six years after plans died to build a 196-unit development on the Elk Mountain ridgeline in Woodfin following public concerns, a new project on the same site will likely come before the Woodfin planning board next month [Oct. 4]. Atlanta-based HS Robinhood is seeking to conctruct 110 multifamily units, as well as five single-family homes, across 17 acres on the Asheville-facing side of the ridgeline. None would be designated as affordable housing, and the units could be used as short-term rentals. A neighborhood organization that opposed the 2016 proposed development met recently to discuss the resurrection of the proposed housing, called Robinhood Residents, and said they will await the outcome of the planning board meeting before deciding its next steps to kill the project.
