Sylva officials are gearing up for the Walk for Hope and are encouraging residents to wear pink to remember and support victims of breast cancer. The sixth annual local event, which organizers boast will be the biggest yet, is set for Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10a to noon. COVID-19 kept the last two events small and contained to the west end of Main Street near the fountain. The walk will meet at the fountain with a walk to Landis Street and then back to the fountain, a press release states. The Walk for Hope began in 2017 to bring awareness to breast cancer. People who want to attend but not walk are invited to come out anyway, and remain at the fountain.
