Mountain school district celebrating student achievements

JACKSON COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) – One mountain school district is celebrating student achievements for the 2021-2022 school year despite the pandemic pandemonium. Jackson County Public Schools announced that based on testing and accountability data released by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction on Sept. 1, eight of its nine district schools met or exceeded expected academic growth during the 2021-22 school year. This is the first time since 2013 that eight schools either met or exceeded expected overall academic growth, the report noted. However, even though 2021-22 student test scores improved overall compared to the previous year, the data does show that hundreds of North Carolina public schools are now labeled as low-performing, due to COVID confusion.
