Jackson County is green on the CDC’s COVID-19 community level map, indicating low level spread of COVID. However, health officials are keeping a close eye on any new subvariants heading into the holidays as we gather with family and friends. Cases, deaths and hospitalizations due to COVID-19 are all down, but Jackson County
reported 48 new cases, and 102 deaths, including one during the week ending Sept. 17. Before that, the county had not reported a COVID-19 death since early July. North Carolina residents can obtain five free home testing kits by visiting, accesscovidtests.org.
