A Jackson County child predator will be going to jail for a very long time. Cherokee resident Johnathon Micah Maney was identified after the child reported, what was described as ‘three horrific years of abuse,’ to teachers and they contacted law-enforcement officers. Maney was sentenced to a total minimum of 51.3 years to a total maximum of 72.41 years in the Division of Adult Corrections. The now 14 year old child said the sexual abuse started in 2014 when she was 9 years old. Cherokee school teachers are being credited with leading police to the 41 year old perpetrator, who has filed an appeal in the case, court records show.
