Haywood County Sheriff Greg Christopher is recognized by the Clyde Volunteer Fire Department in advance of his retirement later this year. According to WLOS the ceremony took place Sunday after the 9/11 memorial service. Christopher became Haywood County sheriff in 2013 after Bobby Suttles stepped down. Christopher also served as a state trooper for 30 years. Voters will choose a new sheriff this November. It’s been 12 yeats since the last time a sheriff was elected.
