BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) – Students heading back to school may have to pay more for lunch. This year, a majority of school districts will resume charging for most meals again. Jackson County Public Schools, Haywood County Schools and Transylvania County Schools are among some of the districts that have increased some meal prices this year due to inflation.

While school lunches won’t be universally free this year, there is still some help available. School nutrition officials are urging all families to fill out applications to see if they do qualify for free meals.
