Sylva man sentenced in 2021 child rape case of foster daughter who got pregnant

A Sylva man is going to jail for a very long time in connection to a 2021 child sexual assault case that resulted in the pregnancy of his foster daughter. Shawn Littlebull Standingdeer pleaded guilty to six felony counts related to the rape of the child who was younger than 15 years old, after a DNA test provided proof that he is the father of the baby who was born in 2021. A judge sentenced the 35 year old to the state’s mandatory-minimum sentence on each count for a total of 20 to 29 years in prison, with a projected 2043 release date, according to court records.
