Jackson County Public Schools could be getting a makeover. School officials presented a plan to county commissioners, at the board’s Aug. [8-8] work session, seeking grant money from the North Carolina Needs Based Public School Capital Fund in the hope of offsetting the costs of some much-needed upgrades to the county’s schools. If awarded the funds, the county would be required to provide a 15 percent match.
Commissioners voted unanimously, at last weeks [Aug. 16] regular meeting, to provide JCPS with the matching funds should they win the grant.
